Margret is a 16 months old girl and the sixth born child in a family of seven. She was rescued by Miale ya Tumaini and placed in a home that is able to provide treatment and balanced meals after she developed rickets which needed urgent attention. She could not sit on her own by the time she was 11 months old. We conducted a follow up and found out that she lived under the care of her father who had lost his job and had a mental health condition. Miale Ya Tumaini with the help of Children’s office and chief were able to rescue and place her in a Home. Margret was able to receive medication and she still recovering. Margret is doing fine and she can access basic need without struggles. She is currently going through Physiotherapy with help of Volunteer physiotherapists
Stephen is a 15 year old boy and the second born in a family of seven children currently in class 3. Stephen had to school, take care of his younger siblings and on the same time sell bread and seasonal fruits with the permission from his mother so as to assists in catering for the basic needs. This became hard for him to concentrate in his studies as the business was running until late and sometimes the circumstance denied him the chance to go school. This made him to skip classes so as to take care for his siblings especially after his mother gave birth. Thus leading to poor grades in school. Stephen’s passion for education died until when Miale Ya Tumaini came to his rescue. The family now receives psychosocial support and food. Today, Stephen has access to Education, good Shelter, Food, Clothing and health services. Things changed in his life and he can obtain consistence education freely. He comes home for the holidays looking very positive.
Brandon is a 9 year old boy in class two. He lives with his father and brother. He is a determined boy to study. He was admitted in school last year {2016] with assistance from Miale Ya Tumaini. In the beginning of the year 2017 Miale decided to hand over the school responsibilities to the father so as to open new opportunities to those who were still in need of education. However, the environment back at home was not conducive due to financial constraints and the absence of the father who was not at home most of the time forcing him to drop out of school. He started loitering in the streets begging for money. He was living under harsh conditions as he has nobody to depend on. Miale ya Tumaini was able to control the situation once and for all. Currently Brandon is in boarding school learning.
Wafula is a father of 4 children living in Kware .He is a successful businessman who was a beneficiary of Miale Ya Tumaini. Wafula used to live with his family in a one roomed house. His children were beneficiaries of Miale ya Tumaini feeding programme. Wafula was introduced in the livelihoods training where he showed interest in making and selling detergents, he first started selling detergents to his neighbors and later on to his work colleagues where he worked as a watchman. He also learnt how to keep business reports and record that helped him to save bit by bit. This helped him to support his wife who is also in tailoring business. Today he sells the detergents in large quantities while doing tailoring where he sells school uniforms. He is now able to take care of his children necessity even at the secondary education level.
