 Feeding program
The center is open for feeding on daily basis. A hot meal is provided to school going children in Kware and its environs who attend different schools . meals are served from 12.45 to 1.30 during school days.Except for Weekends, Public and School holidays, when meals are served  at 1.00pm to 2.00pm.
On average 17,000 plates of food are served every month to an average of  350 children and parents.The children are mainly aged 3years to 17. The norm is that only school going children are allowed in, however, the center encourages all hungry children to come this serves as a platform to find out reasons that one does not attend school and reach out to parents. In cases where parents are not available the children are allowed to continue feeding
On average 350 children come to the center for food on daily basis.
The center caters for parents living with different health conditions and are unable to leave their homes, expectant mothers in their last trimester, lactating mothers for the first 2 months.
All the cases are identified through the community, referrals by school teachers and the area chief. A thorough assessment is carried out to ensure that the right populations are reached.

Intake/Registration.
Intake process is an ongoing activity, every child who enters the premises is registered in the daily feeding register book, their parents are invited to do a thorough registration. they  open a  file for their children by telling us their full names, residence, contacts, full names of their children, their age and the classes they are in if schooling. Also during registration, a parent gives the number of months they would like their children to be supported. In the process They  sign a consent form allowing Miale ya Tumaini to feed their children. This means that the children benefit from   counseling when need arises, referrals to other oranisations in the event that there is a need that another organization can step in to assist and  use of  library at the Centre. After opening the file, we do a follow up where  we visit the family at their homes and assess the way they live, their daily challenges. We later do our recommendation from the home visit and if they qualify to fit in our programmes, the children’s passport picture is obtain in order to design a meals card which act as gate pass.
On the registration process, we are able to identify urgent needs which need immediate intervention and on the other hands the ones that can remain pending.
If we are able to assist we intervene and if not we refer them to other relevant organizations.

Holiday Programmes
During school holiday children are invited to participate in different programmes according to their ages groups. The children are equipped with life skills and trained on  various fields such as baking, beadwork, farming, scarf  mat making among other  activities. Apart from the above, we also have sports Programme like football, handball, rope skipping and taekwondo.
 Children below the age of five years, enjoys coloring, drawing and joining dots of certain patterns or words.
We have mentorship for class eight student during the school holidays..


 Empowerment Trainings for adults
 Miale Ya Tumaini provides trainings to parents and guardians. They are usually divided into group of 15 participants. Training occurs once in every month but in a period of 3 daysthe training Curriculum is tailor-made for parents who cannot come to the centre everyday or the whole day, it also takes inot consideration the different levels of education. The training consists of more practical classes than theory  this includes but not limited to : crochet baby shoes, Moses basket, shaggy mats, detergents, scarfs, bead work and tracitional baskets . miale ya tumaini  engages the services of trainers from other organsiations and parents living in the community.

Parental Conversations
Parental talks are aimed at discussing various challenges experienced by parents, the talks also provide a forum for parents to share their own experiences in supporting children at various stages.in the forums the parents support each other  in different parenting challebnges.
 Home visits
We conduct Home visits to Corroborate information provided by the children or parents during registration. The visits provide a good opportunity to discuss family issues at their own environment, and often finding solutions depending on the needs.
Often interventions are  provided to families ,. As a result of the visits we are been able to reach many families that need assistance on basic need  such food, clothing,  beddings, education, health, shelter and even legal cases,
Home visit gives us the grounds to identify those who qualify and those who don’t.

 Counseling
Miale ya tumaini  conducts counseling sessions at the centre, the sessions are conducted by Counsellors and volunteers to both parents and children.
The centre also –introduced peer counseling in the two public school within the community. The children  the programme was introduced in schools after 
Enrolling a few children  from the  street. It was difficult for them to cope and cooperate with other students. Miale ya Tumaini thought it was the best in equip them with sense of order and direction.
Miale Ya tumaini trains  a group of students in basic counseling skills to be able to handle emerging cases in and out of achool. The guidance and counseling teachers support the peer counselors on daily basis.
